Oh what a night! Last Thursday we had the best time celebrating the joy of food here in Boston with an extraordinary community of food rescue advocates new and old. This was our first annual event highlighting the efforts of our partners that work day in and day out to reduce food waste and get the healthy and nutritious food available to those who need it. In total, we were able to rescue and serve 390 pounds of produce and 83 pounds of meat!
The creativity and finesse of our chefs did not go unnoticed by guests. They used a wide variety of food rescued that week including artichokes, mangos, zucchini, and tomatoes. The ‘oohs’ and ‘mmms’ were audible throughout the evening as guests sampled all seven tasting plates while mingling with chefs and other food and hunger relief advocates.
We are extremely appreciative that for this community that steps up to support issues that are close to our heart here in Boston, especially Mark Tosi and his staff at Les Zygomates for hosting. Through ticket sales and the auction, we were able to surpass our fundraising goal. All proceeds will be carried forward to our incredible network of partners. This event would not have been possible without the support of our incredible partners and friends at:
- Boston Area Gleaners
- Chestnut Farm
- Community Harvest Project
- Food Link
- Harpoon Brewery
- Iggy’s Bread
- Ideal Wine and Spirits
- Les Zygomates
- Mise Wines
- Red’s Best Seafood
- Russo and Son’s
- Toscanini’s Ice Cream
- Verde Farms
Thank you to everyone who attended and participated. We are so excited to have you back for our second annual dinner next year!
